Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the Super Kids Coloring app for Android (“the app”), made by Fat Tuna (“we”, “us”), handles information. The app is designed for children, and we built it to collect as little as possible.
The short version
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- We do not collect your child's name, email, photos, location, contacts or voice.
- Your child's drawings stay on the device. We never receive them.
- We collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to improve the app. They are not linked to anyone's identity and are never used for advertising. A grown-up can turn them off in the Parent zone.
1. Information stored only on the device
To work, the app saves the following in its private storage on the device:
- the pictures your child colors and their coloring progress;
- app settings, such as “Stay inside the lines”, celebration effects and the usage-reports switch.
This information never leaves the device. It is not sent to us and is not included in Android cloud backups or device-to-device transfers. It is deleted when you choose Reset all data in the Parent zone or when you uninstall the app.
2. Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports
The app uses Google's Firebase services to tell us which parts of the app are used and when something goes wrong: Google Analytics for Firebase for usage statistics, and Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports. They rely on two supporting Firebase components, Firebase Installations and Firebase Sessions, which create the random identifiers described below.
What is collected
| Category | What exactly | Service | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| App interactions | Screens opened, which coloring page or tool was used, and that a page was finished or shared. Only fixed identifiers are sent, such as a page or tool id, never text a person typed. Analytics also records standard events, such as the first time the app is opened, the start and length of a session, and app or Android updates. | Analytics | To understand which pages and tools kids enjoy and where the app is hard to use. |
| Install source | Information from Google Play about how the app was found before it was installed (for example, from a Play Store search or a store listing link). | Analytics | To know which store listings and links bring new players. |
| Device and app information | Device brand and model, Android version, screen size, language setting, app version, and an approximate region (country, region or city) that Google works out from the IP address. Google Analytics does not log or store the IP address itself. | Analytics | To make sure the app works well on the devices and languages people actually use. |
| Crash logs and diagnostics | The details of a crash, freeze (“app not responding”) or handled error; the app version; the device model, processor type, amount of memory and free storage; the Android version; whether the device is rooted; screen orientation; and proximity-sensor state at the time of the crash. | Crashlytics | To find and fix crashes and bugs. |
| Random identifiers | An app-instance ID (Analytics), a Firebase installation ID, Crashlytics installation IDs, and a random session ID. They are created by the app on first use and are not derived from the device, the phone number or any account. | All | To count unique installs and to group the events and crashes of one install or session. |
What is not collected
- No advertising ID (AAID): its collection is turned off, and the advertising-ID permission is removed from the app.
- No Android device ID (SSAID), hardware serial numbers, IMEI, MAC address or Wi-Fi network names.
- No precise location, and no names, email addresses, photos, drawings or anything else a child creates.
- No user ID or user properties. Ad personalization signals are turned off, and none of this data is used for advertising or marketing.
The random identifiers only let Firebase group reports from the same install. They are not linked to your child, to you or to any account, and they are replaced with new ones when the app is reinstalled or its data is cleared.
Who processes it, where, and for how long
Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider and may do so on servers outside your country, including in the United States. See Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Crash reports and their identifiers are kept for 90 days.
- Usage statistics linked to an app-instance ID are kept for no longer than 14 months. Totals without identifiers, such as how often a page was colored, may be kept longer.
- A Firebase installation ID is kept until we ask Firebase to delete it, and is then removed within 180 days.
Reports are only sent from the release version of the app, not from our test versions.
Turning it off
Open the Parent zone from the main menu (it is protected by a grown-up question) and switch off Share anonymous usage & crash reports. From then on, the app stops sending usage statistics and crash reports from that device. Reports sent before that are deleted after the periods above.
3. Sharing a picture
When a picture is finished, a grown-up can choose Share after answering a times-table question. The app creates an image of the picture in its temporary storage on the device and opens Android's share sheet, so you can pick where it goes (for example, a messaging app or your photo gallery). Only the app you pick can read the image. We do not receive it, and what happens to it afterwards is governed by that app. The app replaces the image the next time you share, and Android may clear it from temporary storage at any time.
4. Permissions
The app does not ask for access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos or files. Coloring works fully offline. The app's manifest declares only these permissions, which Android grants automatically and which are used only by the Firebase services above:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Internet access (INTERNET) | To send usage statistics and crash reports. |
View network connections (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) | To wait for a connection before sending reports, instead of failing. |
Prevent the device from sleeping (WAKE_LOCK) | To finish sending a batch of reports in the background. |
Google Play install referrer (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE) | To read the install source described in section 2 from Google Play. |
The app also declares one permission that is private to the app itself, which Android libraries use so that messages between parts of the app cannot be read by other apps. It gives no access to anything on the device.
5. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent any information, and we don't share it with third parties for their own purposes.
- We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
- We don't use the advertising ID, and the app does not request the advertising-ID permission.
6. Children's privacy
Super Kids Coloring is made for children and takes part in Google Play's Families program. We follow the Families Policy and aim to meet the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, the GDPR (including its rules for children) in the European Union and the UK, and similar laws elsewhere. Because we do not collect personal information, we do not need, and do not ask for, a child's details.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you or your child, or to object to its processing. Because the data we receive is not linked to any identity, we usually cannot match it to a specific person. You can always:
- turn off usage statistics and crash reports in the Parent zone;
- delete all on-device data with Reset all data, or by uninstalling the app;
- contact us with any question or request (see below).
8. Security
On-device data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Reports are sent to Firebase only over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. If a change is significant, for example adding a new kind of data, we will also mention it in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
